Efficacy and microbial responses of biochar-nanoscale zero-valent during in-situ remediation of Cd-contaminated sediment

چکیده
In situ immobilization of heavy metals in sediments has been considered as a low-cost and eco-friendly remediation method. this study, biochar (BC) BC-nanoscale zero-valent iron composite (nZVI/BC) treatments with different doses were conducted to immobilize Cd situ. The performance BC nZVI/BC changing mobility bacterial community sediment was investigated, their efficiencies at various pH values also explored. After 140 d remediation, the results showed that application reduced released concentrations overlying water porewater by 31–69% 26–73%, respectively. Compared control, labile treated transformed stable fraction, TCLP (toxicity characteristic leaching produce) extracted decreased 7–29%. reduction closely related additional dose or nZVI/BC, presence nZVI greatly enhanced ability stabilize Cd. Notably, presented higher restriction for release from than values, both highest effects under alkaline condition. Bacterial analysis indicated richness diversity communities low-dose enhanced, while inhibition observed high due changes toxicity nZVI/BC. This study supplies new insights into potential on contaminated sediments.

متن کاملUse of nanoscale zero-valent iron to improve the shear strength parameters of gas oil contaminated clay
In recent years, the nanoscale zero-valent iron (NZVI) particles have been used successfully for the degradation of hydrocarboncompounds and remediation of other pollutants. Nevertheless, as far as we know, there is no specific study on the improvement of thegeotechnical properties of contaminated soils with hydrocarbon compounds by NZVI. This study used NZVI particles to remove gasoil in a cla...

Recently developed man-made structures have caused environmental pollutions, and unfortunately, in spite of the deteriorating affairs and repeated warnings by scientists and experts, the degree of contamination is increasing considerably. One of the natural sources undergoing changes is the coasts. It is mainly due to human activities which have led to a change in the quality and quantity of se...
